Documents Required

To apply for a new passport or renewal, the following documents are required:

• Valid Portuguese Citizen Card (for identification verification)
• Existing passport (for renewals, unless lost)
• Parental authorization (for applications on behalf of minors)
• Additional legal documents (as required in special cases)

Important Information

• Applications for passports must be booked in advance through the official Plataforma de Agendamento Online.
• If you have a Digital Mobile Key (Chave Móvel Digital), you may use it for authentication.
• Minors’ applications must be submitted by an adult with parental responsibility, along with proof of common address or authorization from the legal guardian.
• In cases where a minor is under local authority care, additional legal documents are required.
• Once issued, the passport must be collected within six months from the date of issue, either by the applicant, an authorized representative, or a legal guardian (in the case of minors).
